Society should not turn blind eye to aggression, say parliament heads

January 27th, 2022

Society should not turn a blind eye to any demonstration of aggression against people over their origin, the Czech upper and lower house heads, Milos Vystrcil and Marketa Pekarova Adamova, said on Thursday at a meeting dedicated to International Holocaust Remembrance Day. "Evil cannot be eliminated unless its origin is eliminated. Retreating from evil is never a solution, but it only legitimises it," Pekarova Adamova (TOP 09) said. "It is important for us not to ever become victims and culprits. We must not become mere observers either," Vystrcil (Civic Democrats, ODS) said. He added that the situations in Belarus and Ukraine threatened by Russian aggression could not be only observed from afar.
