SNS to hold meeting on abortions, parties invited to table motions

Members of only a few political parties met at a round table on abortions convened by coalition Slovak National Party (SNS) on Wednesday, TASR learnt on the same day. A number of lawmakers excused themselves due to schedule conflicts, with SNS planning to convene another meeting in the foreseeable future. "It's about time to make a stand on behalf of life. All of us, participants, voiced our support for absolute protection of life. However, specific legislative measures on reinforcing the protection of life may vary and might not come only in the form of amendments to the Abortion Act," said SNS vice-chair Eva Smolikova.
