Smer submits proposal to reintroduce special banking levy

Smer-SD MPs on Tuesday submitted to parliament a bill aiming to reintroduce a special banking levy in the country, justifying it with a need to seek all resources to consolidate public finances and mitigate the impacts of hikes in energy charges. As social democrats, we are reacting in this way to Slovakia's record indebtedness, which has been caused by ineffective decisions of this inexperienced Government, and we are looking for resources to save the state budget in the immense profits of commercial banks instead of the wallets of Slovak families, Smer-SD head Robert Fico said on Facebook.
