Smer-SD protests Galko's bid for dept house speaker

The ruling Smer-SD rejects the bid of SaS party MP Lubomir Galko for the post of Parliamentary Vice-chairman, calling it a travesty of democracy. The House is to vote on Galko's candidacy on Thursday in a secret ballot. "We find it outrageous that such a person ... [should] ask parliament for support, when he - as defence minister (2010-11) - was demonstrably behind the surveillance of journalists, opposition politicians...", the party said in a post on social media.
