Smer-SD lays wreaths on Dubcek memorial

The opposition Smer-SD party leadership laid wreaths on the Alexander Dubcek Memorial before the building of Parliament on Wednesday and made speeches at a protest rally with a few hundred people who filled the entire square. "We came here to bow to the great humanist, social democrat Alexander Dubcek," said party vice-chair Juraj Blanar. Blanar added that November 17 is the Day of the Fight for Democracy and Freedom, but he criticised the government for forgetting the 100th anniversary of Dubcek's birthday.
