The extra-parliamentary Republic party, which includes several MPs who left the ranks of the far-right Peoples Party Our Slovakia (LSNS), will cooperate with Smer-SD at an upcoming protest in Kosice slated for September 1, a national holiday dedicated to the constitution, Republic head Milan Uhrik said on Facebook on Thursday. Uhrik expressed hope that other relevant opposition parties will join Republic and Smer, adding that it no longer makes sense to protest in front of the Presidential Palace or the Government Office, as the Constitutional Court, based in Kosice, is the only institution in the country that can stop the government.
