Slovakia to support reinforcement of NATO's presence on Eastern flank in Madrid

According to materials that were discussed by the Government on Wednesday, Slovakia aims to support at the upcoming NATO summit in Madrid the change of the current NATO forward presence on its eastern flank to a long-term forward defence. NATO forward defence will be expected to ensure protection of its members and deter a potential aggressor. "It will be based on eight NATO battlegroups.... located in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Bulgaria and Romania," the materials read.
