Slovakia posts EUR 1.1 bn trade surplus in 2019

Slovakia's foreign trade balance posted a surplus of 1.115 billion euros in 2019, down by 1.193 billion euros year-on-year, the Statistics Office reported on Friday. Total exports increased by an annual 1.9 percent to 80.63 billion euros in 2019, while total imports grew by 3.5 percent to 79.514 billion euros. In December 2019, meanwhile, Slovakia reported a trade deficit of 24.3 million euros, which was 192.9 million euros less than in the same period of 2018. Exports grew by 4.9 percent year-on-year to 5.954 billion euros, while imports rose by 1.4 percent to 5.978 billion euros.
