Slovakia's unemployment rate rose to 6.7 percent year-on-year in 2020, which amounts to an additional 35,000 people left jobless, the Statistics Office reported on Friday. "Unemployment rose year-on-year throughout the whole of 2020 at a pace that increased particularly in the third quarter, with similar developments seen in the last quarter as well," statisticians said. In terms of age, the number of unemployed swelled most in the 35-49 and 25-34 age groups (by 19,200 per 72,000 people and per 8,400 per 50,000 people, respectively). The only age category with a contrary trend was the 50-54 age group, which saw a slight decrease in unemployment.
