The general government deficit should reach 5.2 billion euros, or 4.9 percent of GDP at the end of this year, which corresponds with the approved budget, according to an estimate of the public sector's performance as of June 30 published by the finance ministry on Tuesday. "Substantially better developments in the general government budget, thanks to more effective collection of incomes, as well as regarding inflation, have been offset by the impacts of extraordinary situations (the war in Ukraine, the autumn coronavirus wave), as well as need for financing additional expenditures related to growing inflation," said the Finance Ministry.
