Slovakia's economy didn't worsen y-o-y in 1Q21

June 4th, 2021

Slovakia's economy didn't post a year-on-year (y-o-y) deterioration in the first quarter of this year, with gross domestic product (GDP) just above zero, the Statistics Office reported on Friday, ascribing this mainly to an increase in exports and better productivity among major industries. Although GDP grew by 0.2 percent y-o-y in the first quarter, the economy still didn't reach the level of the pre-pandemic year of 2019.
