The unfavourable situation regarding rainfall began to deepen again during the first half of August, with such a lack of precipitation in most of the country that the rain at the end of July wasn't enough to balance it out, the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMU) said on social media on Monday. The SHMU pointed out that the continued absence of widespread and longer-lasting precipitation is again causing stream beds to dry up, especially in the basins of the southern half of the country.
