Slovak top court chief to look into whether judge should face disciplinary action

January 16th, 2020

Head of the Constitutional Court Ivan Fiacan will carry out all necessary steps in order to verify whether there are sufficient reasons to take disciplinary action against Constitutional Court judge Mojmir Mamojka and will act accordingly, Constitutional Court spokesperson Martina Ferencova said on Thursday. The statement came in reaction to the testimony of former Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS) member Peter Toth at the trial of those accused of the murder of journalist Jan Kuciak and Martina Kusnirova on Wednesday. Toth said that defendant Marian K., who allegedly ordered the murder, attempted to be released from custody by asking for help from Mamojka. Toth allegedly met Mamojka face to face in the summer of 2018, when he brought him a copy of a motion that had been filed with the Constitutional Court by Marian K.
