Slovak police: Fewer accidents than last year

September 16th, 2019

The number of traffic accidents caused by drivers in Slovakia in July and August fell by 9 percent year-on-year to 2,375, the police announced on Monday. The number of fatalities was also down, from 49 last year to 44. Jan Ignatak, deputy chief of the traffic department of the national police, said that the figures were probably also partly linked to an increased presence of police on roads in response to a tragic 25th week, which saw 14 traffic fatalities.
