The Slovak police have pressed charges of human smuggling against a 33-year-old man of Algerian origin living in Poland who was caught driving a van with nine illegal migrants from Algeria, Morocco and Egypt in eastern Slovakia on Sunday. "He was promised 4,500 euros for transporting nine illegal migrants to a destination in Germany," the police reported on Facebook. The man, who has been remanded in custody, could spend between seven and ten years in prison if convicted.
