The Bratislava Water Company (BVS) announced on Monday that it has filed a criminal complaint against an unknown perpetrator who poured several barrels of motor oil into the sewage system, potentially creating a crisis throughout the capital. According to BVS director Peter Olajos, if staff at a sewage disposal plant in the borough of Vrakuna had not spotted the oil, the plant would have been paralysed, and contaminated water would have leaked into the Little Danube River, possibly creating an environmental disaster.
