Breeding and killing animals for the purpose of obtaining their fur will be banned in Slovakia under an amendment adopted by parliament on Thursday. The ban will concern rabbits, red fox, nutria, chinchilla, mink and ferret. It will not concern breeders who breed only small numbers of animals. The legislation provides a four-year-long transitional period for existing fur farms in Slovakia.
