Slovak opposition MPs want amendment on parental allowances changed

September 17th, 2019

The opposition is suggesting that the draft law on increasing parental allowances should be changed as, according to them, the amendment would split people into two groups. The draft law states that parental allowances should see increases as of next year. However, only parents who have worked prior to having children would be entitled to the increases. Such parents would be paid 370 euros per month whereas other parents, who have worked only for a short time or temporarily and haven't collected maternal allowances, would have their parental allowances raised to 270 euros.
