Slovak MEP Miroslav Simecka (Progressive Slovakia) became vice-chair of the liberal Renew Europe group in the European Parliament on Tuesday. Renew Europe is the third largest political group in the European Parliament after the European People's Party (EPP) and the Socialists and Democrats. The liberals have lost 17 seats following Brexit and the departure of British MEPs from the European Parliament, but they still have 97 seats in the 705-member EP.
