Slovak-made ultra-light aircraft crashes during test flight, pilot survives

July 7th, 2022

An ultra-light sport aircraft crashed during a test flight in the district of Prievidza in Trencin region on Thursday morning, but the pilot survived with only a minor injury to his spine. The pilot was testing the performance of a new WT9 Dynamic model with a more powerful engine. Jan Hrabovsky, the head of Aerospool - the Slovak company that produced the aircraft - explained that the pilot lost control of the plane due to a mistake at a high speed, which forced him to activate the parachute system. The aircraft overturned on landing, during which the pilot suffered a blow to the head. The pilot has been released from hospital in the meantime.
