Slovak foreign ministry hands protest note to Russian Embassy

February 23rd, 2022

The Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry (MFA) on Tuesday handed a protest note to the Russian Embassy in Bratislava expressing Slovakia's rejection of Russia's decision to recognise the independence of separatist entities in eastern Ukraine, the ministry has told TASR. "The Slovak Republic views this decision by the Russian Federation, a signatory to the Minsk Agreements, as a clear violation of international law and the Minsk Agreements, which provide for the full return of the territories under Ukrainian control," the protest note reads. "It is also a violation of UN Security Council resolution 2202, which approved the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements."
