Slovak employment up 1.8 pc in Q1

Year-on-year growth in employment accelerated by 0.6 percentage points in the first quarter of 2019 to reach 1.8 percent, with the number of those working in jobs by 45,800 to 2.588 million, the Statistics Office reported on Thursday. As for seasonally adjusted figures, employment rose by 0.3 percent on a quarterly basis, or by 8,800 individuals to 2.596 million. When people working abroad are removed from the figures, employment in Slovakia went up by 2.6 percent to 2.462 million.
