Slovak authority lifts bird flu restrictions in Nitra

The regional veterinary and food administration in Nitra has stopped monitoring the area for a possible recurrence of avian flu. A case of bird flu was confirmed in a private poultry holding in the village of Zbehy on January 9. The disease later spread to neighbouring Trnava region. "All the measures ordered by the administration have been carried out and no other cases of the disease in birds has been registered," said Nitra spokesperson Tomas Holubek.
