The Slovak Medical Chamber (SLK) has appealed to the government and the health ministry to take immediate action to prevent the Delta variant of novel coronavirus from making its way to Slovakia, SLK communications and media manager Nancy Zavodska told TASR on Tuesday. The chamber said that it was closely monitoring the situation in connection with the threat of another wave of the pandemic, stressing that the delta variant is most prevalent in the United Kingdom, where it accounts for more than 90 percent of those infected. "During the upcoming holidays, a large part of the Slovak enclave living in Britain can be expected to come to Slovakia. The risk of the delta variant of the virus being imported is therefore very high," it said.
