Seven regional Smer-SD chairs declare party united

Smer-SD is united, and will decide on its future at a regular congress, according to a statement on the internal-party situation adopted by seven regional Smer-SD chairs, party spokesman Jan Mazgut told TASR on Wednesday, adding that the eighth regional chair was at the cabinet session at that time and therefore could not sign up to the statement. The party declares that it has not stopped its members from commenting on the current political situation in Slovakia or within the party. "As chairs of the regional party organisations, we've always promoted an open discussion within the party rather than sending messages via the media. Above all, we think that no political statements should ever be motivated by the unfulfilled ambitions of party members," reads the statement.
