A bronze sculpture entitled Flame in memory of Jan Palach, a Czech student who burnt himself to death in 1969 after the Soviet invasion, was unveiled on Palach's pylon outside the new building of the National Museum in downtown Prague on Tuesday. The 30-metre steel pylon used as the plinth for the sculpture has been outside the former seat of the Federal Assembly, the parliament of the Communist Czechoslovakia, for 40 years.
