Roma demanding police reform over death of Roma man

July 28th, 2021

The police should be reformed, which should include ban on neck-kneeling during police action, a compulsory statistics of the injured and dead in police actions as well as a thorough retraining of the police, representatives of the Czech Roma told journalists today. They responded to the death of Roma Stanislav Tomas who died after a police action in Teplice, North Bohemia, on June 19. Edita Stejskalova, from the government Roma minority council, said the intervening police from Teplice should be taken off duty. She said several criminal complaints had been filed over the death of the Roma man.
