Remisova wants ruling coalition to revise prosecutor-general's powers

September 2nd, 2021

Co-ruling For the People party leader Veronika Remisova wants to convene an extraordinary session of the Coalition Council to discuss the powers of the prosecutor-general and the use of the disputed paragraph 363 of the Penal Code which enables the prosecutor-general to annul decisions made by prosecutors and police officers. In a post on social media on Thursday, Remisova signalled her readiness to contact representatives of the prosecution service as well and to discuss a change in the rules. In addition, Remisova would like to introduce changes to the hierarchical structure of the prosecution service and a more comprehensive reform of its operations.
