Rasi: Data is the new oil

Slovakia's Deputy Prime Minister for Investment and Informatisation Richard Rasi highlighted the key role of data for economic competitiveness and the improvement of living standards at an OECD ministerial meeting, presided over by Slovakia, in Paris on Wednesday. Calling data the successor of oil in the 21st century as the "key material", Rasi called attention to the need for data protection in an environment of the "easy misuse" of people's personal, economic and health information. To tackle this, Rasi told the meeting, Slovakia has launched a national cyber-security project, while it has also been promoting education of digital skills and digital prudence.
