Public sector trade unions declare strike alert over pay rise

June 8th, 2022

The white-collar workers' trade unions have declared a strike alert from June 9 to push for their demands for a pay rise due to high inflation in the Czech Republic, trade unions of state bodies and organisations leader Pavel Bednar told CTK on Wednesday. The strike alert will be terminated on the day when the government and the public sector union leaders strike a deal on the adjustments of salaries, he said. The trade unions demand that the salaries be levelled up based on inflation to preserve their purchasing power. They have not reached an agreement yet. The government wants to make up its mind about the date and pay rise level within two weeks.
