Prosecutor launches proceedings in case of prevented arrests

July 30th, 2021

Bratislava region prosecutor Rastislav Remeta said on Friday that he has launched criminal proceedings concerning a case in which Police Corps officers obstructed Interior Ministry Inspectorate officers who were about to arrest three witnesses who have been charged with providing false testimonies in high-stakes corruption cases known as Judas and Purgatory. The three witnesses - identified only as Csaba D., Matej Z. and Peter P. - were charged last week by an investigator of the Interior Ministry's Inspectorate. Although Csaba D., an ex-member of Bratislava-based Takacovci mob has been detained, the other two men managed to escape because the police officers prevented the Inspectorate from arresting them. The police have launched a manhunt for the two men.
