Prime minister says Poland serious about EU budget veto option

Mateusz Morawiecki, Poland's prime minister, warned on Monday that Poland takes "very seriously" a possible Polish veto of the EU budget if a rule-of-law clause is tied to funding. "We must ensure the cohesion of the European Union; this also part and parcel of the right to a veto. We take the option of using it very seriously," Morawiecki wrote on social media. "We will defend the sovereignty of European states, the letter and the spirit of the treaties -- we will defend the Europe of homelands!"
