President Zeman awards people for helping save lives

Professional rescuers as well as ordinary people who helped save human lives, often under dramatic circumstances, received the Golden Rescue Cross from President Milos Zeman at Prague Castle, the presidential seat, today. The awarded persons include, for instance, rowing coach Martina Souckova and former sailor Radovan Stransky who pulled out two drowning geocaching enthusiasts from the stormy Vltava (Moldau) River in Prague a year ago. Four people, looking for caches in a tunnel of the brook discharging into the Vltava River, were swept into the river during a sudden cloudburst then. The other two got drowned unfortunately.
