Polish President Andrzej Duda has been preparing a regulation that will hike the wages of undersecretaries of state and, indirectly, of MPs and senators by 60 percent, Duda's aide has confirmed. Critics regard the president's plan as a back-door way of increasing salaries that bypasses parliamentary scrutiny and claim it could dent support for the ruling party. Speaking to the public television channel TVP Info, presidential aide Andrzej Dera said that the new regulations will be ready "in the coming days." Dera said the raise will amount to 60 percent for undersecretaries of state and 40 percent for managerial staff in public offices.
