President accepts Matovic's resignation, tasks Heger with forming gov't

President Zuzana Caputova on Tuesday tasked Eduard Heger (OLaNO) with forming a new government. She did so after accepting the resignation of the present Prime Minister Igor Matovic (OLaNO) and thus of the entire government. The Government is being reconstructed following the coalition crisis triggered by the purchase of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. There has been tension in the governing coalition for a long time. The Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) and For the People parties were calling for the government reconstruction and replacement of the prime minister. The president called on Matovic to resign as well.
