The majority of Poles support vetoing the European Union budget if it comes with conditions on upholding rule-of-law standards, according to an opinion poll published on Tuesday. The poll, published in the newspaper Dziennik Gazeta Prawna and conducted by United Surveys for the paper and broadcaster RFM FM, came out just hours after the Polish and Hungarian governments vetoed the EU budget owing to conditionality clauses linking funding to the rule of law. The opinion poll found that 57 percent of those surveyed were in favour of the veto, while 20 percent were against it.
