Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki told a press conference on Tuesday that he does not expect this week's European Council summit to end in the endorsement of candidates for top EU jobs, saying that "we're not yet at such a stage of negotiations." The summit, scheduled for Thursday and Friday, will bring together EU leaders for a second time after the European Parliament elections held across Europe in late May. "I've been keeping in touch with negotiators from parliamentary groups, prime ministers and presidents and I can see that we're not yet at such a stage of negotiations to expect that the talks on the top jobs will be concluded at this meeting of the European Council," Morawiecki said, adding that he had in mind such positions as the presidents of the European Commission, European Council, European Parliament and the European Central Bank as well as the EU foreign policy chief.
