Polish PM: Abortion still allowed in life-endangering cases

October 27th, 2020

Last week's ban on abortion due to foetal damage does not include pregnancies which endanger the mother's health or life, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Tuesday. On Thursday the Polish constitutional court ruled clauses permitting abortion in cases of irreversible damage to the fetus in a 1993 abortion law unconstitutional. The verdict sparked countrywide protests.
