Warsaw police on Monday detained a member of the Polish parliament's guard on charges of directing unlawful threats against Katarzyna Lubnauer, leader of opposition party Nowoczesna. According to Lubnauer's description of the incident on Facebook, the threats appeared in e-mail form during a programme aired by private TV broadcaster TVN. Besides obscenities addressed to her personally, the author of the threats suggested that Lubnauer "should be killed just like that thief Adamowicz," in reference to the January fatal knifing of former Gdansk mayor Pawel Adamowicz during a charity rally.
