Polish, Cypriot parliament heads discuss cooperation

Speaker of the Sejm Marek Kuchcinski met with President of the Cypriot Parliament Demetris Syllouris in Warsaw on Thursday to discuss closer cooperation between the two countries' parliaments. The talks also covered such questions as parliamentary diplomacy, strengthening of the role of parliaments in the EU and the need for a return to basic values of European civilisation, the Sejm press office wrote in a press release. The two officials, who agreed that the 2004 enlargement of the European Union through the accession of Poland and Cyprus, among other countries, had a positive impact on the entire Union, also discussed challenges facing the EU.
