Police have introduced checks at border crossings with Austria in order to ensure the safety of citizens in connection with the Vienna attack on Monday evening, the police said on social media. "I'm appalled by yesterday's attack, I condemn such actions. I'm expressing my sincere condolences to the victims and the bereaved," said acting Police Corps President Peter Kovarik. "One hour after the attack, we took action in Slovakia. We're carrying out checks at the border and strategic locations. We're also communicating with partners from surrounding countries." The police said patrols were immediately deployed to the areas deemed risky.
