Police detained nine-member group of Afghans and smuggler from Ukraine

The police managed to halt on Thursday an attempt of nine Afghans to cross illegally the Slovak-Ukrainian border. A 51-year-old Ukrainian tried to get them through the so-called green border from Ukraine to Slovakia. "The man is facing charges for the crime of people smuggling; if he is proved guilty, he faces imprisonment of three to eight years," said Police Corps spokeswoman Denisa Bardyova, adding that the group was composed of three adults and six children.
