The National Drug Centre (NPC) in cooperation with customs officers has uncovered an international organised group smuggling ecstasy pills via the Czech Republic and Germany to Vietnam, NPC chief Jakub Frydrych told reporters. Two women were accused in the case in Czechia, facing up to 18 years in prison if convicted. Another three people are prosecuted in Germany, said Frydrych and Customs Directorate search section deputy head Michal Simunek. According to Frydrych, the case confirms the trend of the past few years when demand for drugs was rising in East Asia. The drug prices are many times higher in these countries as against Europe.
