Poland wants atomic energy partner to share financing, operational risk

November 27th, 2020

Poland is searching for a partner for its atomic energy programme that will share the risks of financing and the operational phase, the country's commissioner for strategic energy infrastructure has said. Piotr Naimski, the government's commissioner for strategic energy infrastructure, said the cost of the whole project could reach USD 30 billion. "We want it to be a partner that possesses tested technology (...) that will invest with us and will not only build a power station with us but will be in the operational phase until the end of its activity," Naimski said. "We want a partner that will bear together with Poland the risk concerning the operational phase and the business undertaking."
