February 18th, 2020
Poland will celebrate Polish Science Day for the first time on February 19 this year, in recognition of Polish scientists' achievements, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education said on Tuesday. The date of the annual celebrations is the birthday of Nicolaus Copernicus, in appreciation for his outstanding achievements in astronomy. Polish Science Day will be an inspiration for people to follow eminent Polish researchers and to reinforce their interest in science, the ministry said. According to the ministry's data for 2018, 81,500 scientists were actively working in Poland.
