The Polish government will invest 300-400 million zlotys (EUR 67-89m) in restoring the country's nitrocellulose production capacity, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced during a visit to the Mesko plant in Skarzysko-Kamienna, central Poland. Nitrocellulose is used in ammunition production, but Poland phased out its own manufacturing of the compound more than a decade ago. Morawiecki stressed the importance of producing defence components domestically and said the decision was made after consultations with President Andrzej Duda.
