Poland Senate passes penalties for illegal adoption

The senate (upper house) on Friday unanimously passed a law introducing an up to 5-year prison term for the illegal adoption of children. The law now awaits signature by the president. The law went through the Sejm (lower house) on Wednesday. Commenting on the new law, Deputy Justice Minister Michal Wojcik called it "the most important project with regard to the protection of children's rights."
