Poland's Sejm commission begins work on changes to pension system

The Sejm (lower house) special commission on Friday began work on a government bill changing retirement principles of uniformed services. The commission is also to examine a bill on raising retirement age. Commission head Slawomir Neumann (Civic Platform - PO) had announced that the commission would like the house to hear both bills for the second time during its sitting scheduled for May 9 - 11. The commission did not agree on a request of representatives of Law and Justice (PiS) and Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) to put the changes to pension to public hearing.
