Poland pays tribute to six million murdered Jews

January 27th, 2020

Polish President Andrzej Duda opening the main ceremonies marking the 75th anniversary of the liberation by the Red Army of the Nazi German concentration and extermination camp of Auschwitz paid tribute to the six million Jews killed there and in other camps, ghettos and places of executions. The president recalled that Red Army soldiers entered the camp on January 27, 1945, liberating several thousand camp inmates - exhausted by the cruelty of the butchers, by slave labour, hunger and diseases.
