Poland will introduce a national lockdown from March 20 to April 9 and current restrictions will remain in force, the health minister announced on Wednesday. Adam Niedzielski said regional authorities have been instructed to revamp regular hospital infrastructure into wards for Covid-19 patients. Niedzielski said the currently spreading British variants of the Covid-19 virus were responsible for 54 percent of the new infections in Poland. He added that Poland's daily infection rate was rising and was now at over 25,000.
